Description
Michelson Interferometer is used for determination of wave length of Monochromatic Light. The Michelson interferometer is a common configuration for optical interferometry and was invented by Albert Abraham Michelson. Using a beam splitter, a light source is split into two arms. Each of those is reflected back toward the beamsplitter which then combines their amplitudes interferometrically.
Uses and Features of Michelson Interferometer:
- Accurate measurement of small changes in length
- Determination of difference in wave length between sodium D lines
- Determination of Monochromatic or white light fringes
- Measurement of Refractive indices
