Description
THE ZEEMAN EFFECT
An electron revolving around the nucleus of an atom is considered as the source of current, with an associated magnetic field with it. The interaction of this magnetic field produced by electrons with an externally applied magnetic field is called Zeeman effect (1896), named after its inventor, Dutch physicist Pieter Zeeman.
Apparatus:
Zeeman Effect Apparatus Consists of:
(1) Electromagnet (7.5KGauss) with Power Supply(30V/5A)
(2) Mercury tube with power supply
(3) optical bench of 1.5 meter scale
(4) Fabry-Perot etalon
(5) condenser lens in mount
(6) telescope
(7) CCTV camera with connecting cables
