Scientific Beekeeping in Nagaland

All India Coordinated Research Project on Honey Bees and Pollinators, SASRD, Nagaland University conducted a programme in the month of March (2017) in five target villages namely: Medziphema, Rüzaphema, Socünoma, Tsiepama and Piphema, under the theme “Start-up of Scientific Beekeeping in Nagaland under Tribal Sub Plan“.
The Chief Guest, Dr. R. C Gupta, Dean of NU, SASRD, in his inaugural speech motivated the villagers on the positive aspects of scientific beekeeping which not only includes higher honey productivity but also the benefits of pollination as well as to harness its valued by-products.
Scientific bee boxes and other bee rearing equipments were distributed to the beekeepers in these villages.
The programme was chaired by Prof. M. Aleminla Ao, NU, SASRD while welcome address was delivered by Dr. H. K Singh, Scientist In-charge, AICRP (HB&P), NU, SASRD and Dr. A. K. Singh, Assistant Scientist, AICRP (HB&P) proposed vote of thanks.
